CourseDash ("we," "our," or "us") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and delete your information when you use the CourseDash web app, mobile app, and related services (collectively, the "Service").

By using CourseDash, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

Information We Collect

We collect only the information necessary to operate and improve the Service.

Information You Provide

  • Name, email address, and account details
  • School or university information
  • Course data, assignments, schedules, and grades
  • Uploaded files such as syllabi or unofficial transcripts
  • Messages sent to support or feedback channels

Information Collected Automatically

  • Device and browser information
  • IP address and basic usage analytics
  • Feature usage and interaction data

How We Use Your Information

Your information is used to:

  • Create and manage your CourseDash account
  • Organize academic data into dashboards and schedules
  • Process uploaded documents and extract relevant information
  • Improve product performance and user experience
  • Communicate service updates or important notices
  • Maintain security and prevent misuse

CourseDash does not sell your personal information.

File Uploads and Academic Data

Uploaded academic documents are used only to provide CourseDash features, including extracting assignments, dates, and grade information. These files and the data extracted from them are not shared with third parties except as required to operate the Service.

Document Parsing and Data Extraction

When you upload PDF syllabi or transcripts, CourseDash automatically parses these documents to extract academic information for your convenience. This includes:

  • Syllabi: Course codes, titles, instructor names, assignment names, due dates, point values, and grading policies
  • Transcripts: Course codes, titles, grades, credits, grade points, terms, and years

Uploaded documents are securely stored in our system and processed to populate your courses, assignments, and transcript view. The extracted data is used solely to provide CourseDash features and is not shared with third parties. You can delete uploaded documents and extracted data at any time through your account settings.

Calendar Subscription and Data Sharing

CourseDash offers a calendar subscription feature that generates a unique iCal feed URL containing your assignment data. When you use this feature:

  • A unique token is created that provides access to your assignment titles, due dates, and course names
  • This URL can be subscribed to by third-party calendar applications (Apple Calendar, Google Calendar, Outlook, etc.)
  • Any application or person with access to this URL can view your assignment data
  • You should keep this URL private and only share it with trusted calendar services
  • You can regenerate the URL at any time to revoke access to the previous URL

CourseDash is not responsible for how third-party calendar services use or store data accessed through the calendar subscription URL. Please review the privacy policies of any calendar service you subscribe with.

Data Storage and Security

We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards to protect your data. While no system can guarantee absolute security, we take data protection seriously and work to prevent unauthorized access, loss, or misuse.

Third-Party Services

We may use trusted third-party providers for hosting, analytics, authentication, email delivery, and file processing. These providers may access limited data only as necessary to perform their services and are required to protect your information.

Your Rights and Choices

You may:

  • Access, update, or correct your account information
  • Delete courses, files, or academic data
  • Request permanent account deletion

Account Deletion and Permanent Data Removal

If you delete your CourseDash account, all personal information and academic data associated with your account will be permanently deleted from our active systems.

This includes:

  • Account profile information
  • Courses, assignments, grades, and schedules
  • Uploaded files and extracted academic data

Once an account is deleted, this data cannot be recovered. Account deletion is permanent and irreversible.

Limited data may remain temporarily in encrypted backups for operational or legal purposes but cannot be accessed or restored after deletion.

Children's Privacy

CourseDash is intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If changes are material, we will notify users through the Service or by email. Continued use of CourseDash after updates constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
